Business need

Unit IT GmbH is a German company, founded in 1995 in Iserlohn. In 2003 they opened a second location in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

Unit IT is an experienced IT service provider. They concentrate on specialized tasks related to software development, Web and database applications. Their approach is that technology is not an end in itself but a tool.

Since December 2006, Unit IT, as one of 19 companies in the world appointed to the Microsoft Partner Advisory Council, gained direct access to decision-makers from Microsoft in Redmond, USA. The duties of the council include joint coordination and consultation in concept and strategy issues.

Due to growth and a need to extend the volume of the services provided, the company decided to grow its own outsourcing team.

Challenge

The main challenge here was the primary desire of the company to find a reliable partner whom they can trust. Saving money was not the first issue. Another challenge was the necessity to choose a partner which could scale the team over time. First they tried a partner from Poland, but the experience was not positive and Poland appeared to be significantly expensive. So they decided to try outsourcing to Ukraine. Several companies were chosen and the CEO of the company personally visited them.

Apart from reliability and trust in potential partner, there were other requirements, such as adequate management, a transparent structure and an understandable financial policy.

Solution

Background

Quality Management Project is a number of applications, including windows services, windows forms applications and web-applications, which altogether form products quality management system. the system provides shared information for different departments, such as laboratories and headquarters.
Our customer owns more than 30 regional companies, each company is economically independent, but most articles are bought by the headquarters. Quality management is based at the headquarters, but quality testing is either done by one of the companies or by the supplier.
